Merino wool has natural stretch and memory: the Crown moulds to your head over the first few sessions, so it will feel snug at first if you are at the smaller end of the range and relax into place.

Measure: wrap a soft tape around your head, just above the ears and eyebrows, where a hat would sit.

How to use it

1. Wear it in. Place the Crown on before entering. Cover your ears for extra insulation, or wear it higher for a lighter feel.
2. Stay longer. Start with your usual duration and add 2-5 minutes as you adapt.
3. Combine with cold exposure. Keep the Crown on during sauna rounds, remove it during cold plunges.
4. Rehydrate. Longer sessions mean more sweat. Drink water before, during, and after.

Why merino and not a regular felt hat?
Most sauna hats are felted from coarse wool. The Crown is felted from 100% Australian merino, a finer fibre: softer on bare skin, more breathable, and slower to hold odour. Full breakdown here.

Can I machine wash it?
No. Hand wash it in cool water, reshape it and lay it flat to dry. Never tumble dry. Between sessions, hang it by the loop to air out.

Will it shrink?
Not if you follow the care instructions. Hot water and tumble drying will shrink any wool.

How hot can it handle?
Merino tolerates Finnish sauna temperatures (80-100°C) without damage. We've tested it well beyond.

Does it smell?
Merino is naturally antibacterial and resists odour far longer than cotton or synthetic hats.
